Constitutionalism
The Voice of Integrity Party (VIP) believes that the Constitution of Kenya is not merely a legal document—it is a social contract between the people and those entrusted with public authority. Constitutionalism requires every person, institution, and leader to respect the Constitution, uphold the rule of law, protect human rights, exercise power within lawful limits, and remain accountable to the people. VIP is committed to defending constitutional democracy and ensuring that public power is exercised transparently, responsibly, and in the best interests of all Kenyans.
Our Constitutional Commitment
VIP recognizes that all sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya and that leaders exercise public authority as a trust—not as a personal entitlement. We will defend the supremacy of the Constitution, protect democratic institutions, promote respect for the Bill of Rights, strengthen checks and balances, and oppose any unlawful abuse or concentration of power.
What Constitutionalism Means
Constitutionalism means that government authority is limited by law, public institutions operate within their constitutional mandates, and every citizen enjoys rights, freedoms, and equal protection under the law.
Sovereignty of the People
Public power belongs to the people. Leaders are elected or appointed to serve the public and must remain accountable to citizens throughout their time in office.
Supremacy of the Constitution
The Constitution is the supreme law of Kenya. No law, policy, decision, institution, or public official should act outside its authority.
Rule of Law
The law must apply equally to everyone. Public officials must be accountable for their actions, and no person should be above the law.
Human Rights & Freedoms
Protect the dignity, equality, freedoms, and fundamental rights of every person while ensuring that public institutions respect and promote the Bill of Rights.
Separation of Powers
Strengthen the independence and proper functioning of the Executive, Parliament, Judiciary, county governments, and constitutional commissions.
Public Participation
Citizens must have meaningful opportunities to participate in public decisions, legislation, budgeting, development planning, and governance.
